Terra Firma Energy Partners with EDF to Optimise Flexible Generation Portfolio

Terra Firma Energy – 9 October 2025

Partnership brings all Terra Firma assets under a single optimiser, maximising commercial performance and supporting the UK’s transition to a low-carbon energy system.

Terra Firma Energy has announced a new partnership with EDF, Britain’s largest generator of zero-carbon electricity, to optimise its 5MW Droitwich flexible generation plant and manage its wider operational portfolio.

The collaboration marks the first time Terra Firma’s assets have been consolidated under a single optimiser, enabling greater efficiency, reliability, and commercial value across the UK power markets.

Under the agreement, EDF will oversee trading and dispatch across Terra Firma’s operational sites, leveraging its Powershift optimisation platform to capture value from wholesale markets, the Balancing Mechanism, and ancillary services. The partnership strengthens Terra Firma’s ability to deliver dependable, flexible energy that supports renewable integration and grid stability.

“Having EDF manage all our assets is a real step forward,” said Zach Dodds-Brown, Development Director at Terra Firma Energy. “It ensures our portfolio works smarter, delivers tangible value for investors, and supports the UK’s transition to a low-carbon energy system.”

Stuart Fenner, Commercial Director at EDF’s Wholesale Market Services, added: “We’re excited to optimise Terra Firma’s Droitwich site alongside their wider portfolio. Consolidating their assets under EDF means maximum performance while helping keep the UK power system stable and secure.”

With a growing portfolio of operational and development-stage sites, Terra Firma Energy continues to play a key role in enhancing grid flexibility and energy security across the UK — delivering reliable, responsive generation to meet the demands of a rapidly decarbonising power system.
